Mt. Hood Celebrated in Locally Crafted Wares

Many regional artisans and craftpersons find their creative inspiration from majestic Mt. Hood and the many fascinating images from nature in its forests, streams and wildlife.

Local entrepreneur Carol Burk decided to showcase this local work in one location. She opened Made on Mt. Hood gallery with a relatively short list of artisans in the Summer of 2005. Today the shop presents the work of over 30 artists and has become a great place to go for regional creations that reflect the mountain environment.

You'll find gifts and home decor items such as rustic log stools by Al & Shirley Hendrickson, stained glass by Roy Bellows-Fairchild, pottery leaves by Colleen Madrid and Kathy Murawski's fine jewelry with silver, gold and semi-precious stones. Pat Sharp's fabulous vests from 100% Pendleton wool have intriguing images in them. There are large ornamental bells for your landscape by Cougar Ridge Metalcraft and custom welcome signs by Mike Blaisdell. There are also prints by Jim Highland, some with a touch of whimsical presentation of frogs and hummingbirds.

This still leaves the work of over a dozen more artists for you to discover on your visit to the shop.

Made on Mt. Hood is open seven days a week, from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday, 11am to 6pm, Weekends. They are located on the corner of US Highway 26 and Greenwood Avenue in Welches (right across from The Fly Fishing Shop on Hwy 26). 503.622.5537
