in the Villages of Mt Hood
Sandy Salmon Bed & Breakfast Lodge, a gorgeous 6000 sq ft custom built log lodge, located on 5 1/2 acres in Welches at the confluence of the Sandy and Salmon Rivers has recently opened its doors to guests. The Lodge has 4 themed rooms with private baths, a great room with a massive fireplace and even an indoor koi pond.

The Whistle Stop Bar & Grill, located on Hwy 26 in Welches, re-opened with new owners and management. The restaurant has been given a face lift and a new updated menu, including American and Mexican cuisine. They will focus on "good food, good service and providing a clean, attractive dinner house atmosphere."

The Mt Hood Visitors' Info Center in Welches at Mt Hood Village has moved to a new location. In addition, several other locations are now available for Visitor Information.

All stories are written by Courtney Vermaas who grew up on Mt Hood as an avid skier. She graduated from the University of Oregon in June 2006 with a journalism degree and a minor in communications. She has continued her interest in skiing by coaching young racers year-round. In addition to skiing, she loves writing, photography and traveling.
