GOLFING MT HOOD

Golf in the Highlands

of the Villages of Mt Hood

For the golf enthusiast, there is no better place to swing a club than at The Resort at the Mountain with its year-round 27-hole golf course, nestled in the pristine beauty of Oregon’s outdoors. At The Resort at the Mountain, which is situated in the heart of The Villages of Mt Hood, you can enjoy a few holes while surrounded by Oregon’s wilderness. The Resort at the Mountain invites you to experience the beauty of the spirit of Scotland in the highlands of Mt. Hood.  Located just an hour from Portland, the Resort’s 27 holes of golf are surrounded by the Mt. Hood National Forest Salmon-Huckleberry Wilderness and are bordered by the nationally designated “Wild & Scenic” Salmon River.  From the most forgiving “Thistle Nine,” to the region’s oldest course, the “Pine Cone Nine,” to the signature course, the “Foxglove Nine,” the Three Nines provide an unmatched golf experience for well-intentioned beginners, seasoned pros, and anyone in between.

Other activities are available within the facility, including swimming, tennis, championship croquet, and lawn bowling. After your round of golf, browse through the Scottish Shoppe gift shop, then relax and enjoy a meal at The Highlands or The Tartans Pub & Steakhouse.

The popular golf course is also recognized for its environmental efforts and is a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The delicacy of the environment  where The Resort resides has created a high level of commitment by the golf course staff to cultivate and preserve the special environment through various programs and efforts. One focus has been restoring wild habitat for native fish and birds. The Resort has been successful in landscaping with native plants, which accommodates both wildlife and visitors.

The Resort is continuously working on preserving the environment, and has a long list of current projects. There is the landmark Fish-Friendly Bridge, in which a new bridge was built over the Salmon River tributary in order to remove a longtime fish passage barrier. The Resort also has “The Green Team”—an internal movement by employees in all departments. Goals include recycling, conservation, environmental education, and more. Due to all their efforts, The Resort and many of its employees have been nationally recognized.

If you are looking for a great way for the whole family to play golf, putter on over to Mountain Air Miniature Golf. This kid-friendly, pioneer-themed mini-golf course is fun and original!  On the 9th hole, you won't find the traditional windmill. Instead, you’ll drive your ball through a challenging array of old mining tools. Throughout the 18-hole course you’ll find antiques dating back to the early 1800's from the Oregon Trail. The beautifully landscaped course is open for just a few months out of the year so don’t miss your opportunity to join in on the fun.
