NATIVE WILDFLOWERS

Mt Hood In Bloom
for July & August

Lupinus latifolius-Broadleaf Lupine

The purple spiky Lupine is commonly seen throughout the Villages of Mt Hood, in meadows, along trails and even along the roadside.

These tall, hardy flowers grow easily and usually in masses up to about the 6000-foot elevation mark.  You will often notice bright orange and red Indian Paint Brush mixed among the purple Lupine, making for a very lovely color field.

Details: Perennial herb up to 2’ tall.
Flowers: Many small on tall spikes of lavender to darker blue.
Leaves: Typically hairy, palm-like with up to 9 leaves.
Habitat: Moist, in open forest up to sub alpine meadows.
