Oregon is a climber’s haven. Not only is Mt. Hood a popular climb that attracts visitors from around the world, but there are tons of hidden rock climbing spots around the area. A few are well-known and easy to get to, but some take a little energy and creativity.

Mt. Hood is a popular mountain for climbers from beginning to expert. Mountain climbing is a challenging, rewarding and risky sport. There are many organizations in the Northwest that make it possible for anyone to have a safe, fun and successful climb on Mt. Hood, as well as teaching people so they can become proficient, independent climbers.

All stories are written by Courtney Vermaas who grew up on Mt Hood as an avid skier. She graduated from the University of Oregon in June 2006 with a journalism degree and a minor in communications. She has continued her interest in skiing by coaching young racers year-round. In addition to skiing, she loves writing, photography and traveling.
