Submissions & Future Issues

You are cordially invited to submit local articles, festival announcements, outdoor recreation stories, nature photographs, nature poems, birdwatching and wildlife stories, recipes, favorite places to stay, graphic artworks, etc. to our upcoming Villages of Mt. Hood Magazine issues.

Submissions need to relate to or be pertinent to Mt. Hood themes, specifically The Villages of Mt. Hood, featuring Alder Creek, Brightwood, Wemme, Welches, Zigzag and Rhododendron.

Submissions (including photographs) are non-compensated, although we can include a credit and/or photo caption if desired.

Article Submission Guidelines

1. What "Submitting" an Article Means: We will promise to read your article, but we may respectfully decline it and not publish it, or save it and publish it in a future issue. We also reserve the right to edit, shorten, or revise your article. Most of the time we contact authors about this ahead of time and get their comments, corrections, etc.

When you submit your article, news or photo, etc. please include a caption (if applicable) and credit name(s) or tell us if you prefer to be published without a credit.

2. Getting Permission Ahead of Time: Please send the article only when you have permission from anyone you need it from, such as anyone included in the article. It's difficult for us to get all set to run an article only to find that the author's fellow community members say no at the last minute.

3. Publication Rights (sorry! we aren't budgeted to pay for articles): If your article, poem or recipe appears in Mt. Hood Magazine, you are welcome to publish the article elsewhere. Mt. Hood Magazine does not hold rights to the articles you submit.

4. Photos (sorry! we aren't budgeted to pay for photos): If photos are available, please email digital photos or snapshots of people and/or communities to illustrate your story.

We will assume that any people in your photos have already given you permission to appear in Mt. Hood Magazine. If you think this will be a problem, please take care of it before sending us photos.

Photos can be vertical or horizontal, black & white or color. We cannot accept hard copy photographs. Photos from a website will also work. File formats can be JPGs or PDFs. If you would like to submit an article but cannot supply photos, that's fine.

We thank you for your contribution to the magazine, and although we wish we could publish everyone, we hope you'll understand if we're not able to include your submission. If we are going to include your article, we'll do our best to notify you ahead of time.
