Light Up Your Holidays
in the Villages of Mt. Hood

How about a holiday experience that takes you back to pioneer Christmases in the wild?  Then the whole family will enjoy Christmas Along The Barlow Trail, two free events brought to you by the Cascade Geographic Society.

Saturday, December 8th
Oregon Trail Heritage Day

Saturday’s event is Oregon Trail Heritage day from 1pm to 4pm at our Living History Village in Rhododendron.  Featured are traditional Christmas caroling, folk music, free Christmas goodies and hot drinks, horse-drawn wagon rides, and some great last-minute shopping opportunities.  Naturally, Santa Claus will be on duty from noon to 4pm.  The main feature is "Christmas Tales of Old Oregon" beginning at 2pm, a unique storytelling program that takes you from the Lewis & Clark Expedition at the Pacific Coast in 1805, to the days of the Oregon Trail and pioneer settlement, to the conclusion on Mount Hood’s slopes in the early 1900's.

Sunday, December 9th
Oregon Trail Heritage Tour

Sunday’s event is the "Oregon Trail Heritage Tour" at the Stage Stop Road Interpretive Center between 11am and 2pm.  Historic sites and trails of Sam Barlow’s route over Mount Hood, Toll Gate, pioneer campsites, graves, and other places of interest are visited. This tour will be located below the snow zone.

Annual Winter Holiday Show

The Wy'east Artisans Guild will be hosting their annual Holiday Show and Sale on Saturday and Sunday, December 1 & 2, at the Sandy Historical Museum.  The hours of the Show and Sale will be from 10am to 4pm both days.

The Wy'east Artisans Guild will feature works from many media all specially priced for this sale with a percentage of the proceeds donated to the Sandy Historical Society.  Come to see high quality crafts at great prices:  greeting cards, ceramics, paintings, prints, beadwork, jewelry, ornaments and more.
