Author Visit / Book Signing. Well known Portland author Molly Gloss, author of Hearts of Horses, will read and discuss her book with us and will be available to sign copies of the book and to answer questions about her writing following the presentation. Gloss’s breakout novel is a remarkable story about the connections between people and animals and how they touch one another in the most unexpected and profound ways. Set in Oregon in the winter of 1917, The Hearts of Horses is a heartwarming story of a determined young woman with a gift for gentling wild horses. Mt Hood Meadows Spring Break Kids Camp. Alpine lessons for students ages 4 – 12, and snowboard lessons for students ages 7 – 12. This Spring Break 3-day camp provides kids with a great way to play on the snow! Kids will be put in the same group with the same instructor for three consecutive days providing an excellent opportunity to make friends and bond with the instructor. You’ll be amazed at the progress your child can make skiing or riding 3 straight days. There will be four hours of on-snow time per day, 10am–12pm and 1–3pm. Lunch is provided and runs from 12pm – 1pm. You can check in as early as 8:00am, kids do arts and crafts and play games until it is time to get ready to go skiing. Check in closes promptly at 9:30am. Mt Hood Meadows Freestyle Camps (Snowboard & Ski). This 3 day Freestyle Camp is a great opportunity to take your park and pipe skills to the next level. Each three day camp includes 5 hours of coaching (9am-12pm, break for a one hour lunch, 1–3pm) per day with a park specialized instructor. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to: jumps, half-pipe, rails and boxes, flatland, all-mountain freestyle, park safety and etiquette. Groups will be split up by age and ability. Cost: $250 per person (includes lift tickets) + $10 for rental equipment. 9am to 3pm. Reservations are required at least 48 hours before the first day of camp. Recycling & Sustainability Fair. Join us for music, food, student displays, kids’ activities, local green businesses and group info, as well as information for living green. The Mt Hood Green Scene is a recycling event and sustainability fair sponsored by the Sustainable Hoodland Network, the Villages at Mt Hood, and the Clackamas County Office of Sustainability. Mt Hood Ghost Conference. A unique conference about “things that go bump in the night”. The paranormal, history, folklore, and science blends together in this very unique Spring conference that is suitable for the entire family. Ski the Glade Trail benefit for the Mt Hood Cultural Center and Museum. Annually on the first Saturday of March, by special permit from the Mt. Hood National Forest , the Glade Trail is opened and groomed for this living history event. This full day event is a chance to experience a historical way of skiing on Mt. Hood . Skiers are shuttled to Timberline Lodge by bus, escorted down the 3.0 mile trail to Government Camp by local guides and the Mt. Hood Ski Patrol. It’s a gathering of anglers interested in two-hand fly rod fishing. It provides a format for the exchange of Spey casting and fishing information. It’s a free Spey casting college open to everyone. It’s a show for your entertainment. It’s a place to rub elbows with the best Spey casters and steelhead anglers in the World! Has been termed, “The Woodstock of Spey casting events”!
