Early Landscape Paintings of the Pacific at Mt Hood Cultural Center and Museum. A special exhibition, on the occasion of Oregon’s Sesquicentennial. Curated by Robert Joki of Portland’s Sovereign Gallery, focuses on 19th century romantic interpretations of majestic Mt. Hood and nearby Cascadia.

Free fly-tying class at the The Fly Fishing Shop. “Big Stone Dries”-Learn to tie: dry flies that really work! This program is for new tiers and experienced tiers alike. Instructional demonstrations with big-screen TV are free, and all tying materials & hooks will be available at low cost. A custom made fly tying room with perfect lighting and special teaching aides are provided. Refreshments will be served. Bring snacks if you want to. Everyone is welcome! 1:00 - 5:00pm. Surface Design for Prayer Flags art class at the Arts Cabins. Create many kinds of stamps & stencils to be used to make surface designs on fabric, paper, and prayer flags to take home. 9am - 4pm.

Mother’s Day Brunch at The Altitude Restaurant at The Resort at the Mountain. Mother’s Day is one of the year’s most special days. For good reason. It celebrates Mom. And she’s SO worth it. So gather her up, along with the kids, and head to The Resort at The Mountain on Sunday, May 10. Painting The Snowy Landscape at The Arts Cabins. This small class is limited to 8 students will be devoted to exploring the Snowy Landscape through painting. Paint still life and exercises indoors (warm…) dedicated to capturing the subtle colors of white. Plan and paint individual works, inspired either by the snowy Mt. Hood landscape, or from your personal photos. Weather permitting we will make short outdoor explorations to study the subject. Demos in oils. All medium welcome. Register by email.

Live Music starting at 8pm at the Skyway Bar & Grill .Woodbrain will perform featuring Joe McMurrian. Woodbrain has been rapidly gaining recognition across the Great Northwest and world with it’s intense, deeply progressive high energy music. The sound is rooted in Delta Blues and Old American Roots music, but it is weaved into a modern concept of improvisation and original story telling that owes as much to the old as towards the new. WOODBRAIN has just finalized their first studio album due out at the end of June. Don’t miss this live music event on Mount Hood at the Skyway Bar and Grill. Non-smoking bar. Blacksmithing Classes at The Arts Cabins. Learn the art of blacksmithing from professionals who have created many outstanding works in the Northwest and the nation. Many hand forged items are on display in the studio for sale to the public. Talk with the blacksmiths about any custom architectural features or items you may need. Class is two hours. $60 per class. Limited to 4 students per day. Must be 12 years or older to register. Classes can be scheduled for 10am or 1pm. Register by phone at 503-272-3301 or by email.

Poetry Reading – Judith Barrington at Wy’East Book Shoppe & Art Gallery. Noted Portland poet Judith Barrington, author of the poetry collections ‘Horses and the Human Soul’, ‘History and Geography’, and ‘Trying to Be an Honest Woman’ will join us to read selected works of poetry and prose. Judith newest work, ‘Postcard from the Bottom of the Sea’was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. Other readers are welcome to bring poems to share. 7:30pm, 503-622-1623
